IES Cerro del Viento celebrates Diwali Festival

Bilingüismo

Diwali, or Dipawali, is India's biggest and most important holiday of the year. The festival gets its name from the row (avali) of clay lamps (deepa) that Indians light outside their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects from spiritual darkness. This festival is as important to Hindus as the Christmas holiday is to Christians.

Over the centuries, Diwali has become a national festival that is also enjoyed by non-Hindu communities.

Diyas are associated with auspicious vibes. By Lighting the diya, you dispel negativity from your mind and soul, this clears up space for positive thoughts to enter.

Diwali  festivity was celebrated at IES Cerro del Viento by crafting diyas with paper. Students participated in workshops where a visual tour of Diwali festivities was held. Our conversation auxiliary, Akanksha showed students videos and PPTS  in which  we all got  to know  many interesting issues about  the festival´s goings-on, food,  culture and traditions.  This  new activity has been a whole new and great experience for our students,  as they have been able to explore such a different and interesting cultural festival.
